Chico

 12/27- Chico CA

The Pacific Ocean has decided to keep splashing its way inland. The rain and fog continued all day today. At least it is relatively warm (at least to us). Everyone around here is complaining about the cold. While we find it chilly 50 is better than 10 degrees.

We drove down the hill to Chico today to stay at A’ s little sister’s house. We will be here for a couple of days to help out with A’s mom. In case you’ve been wondering Chico is about 20 miles down the canyon from Paradise. We braved the dense fog this morning which cleared near the bottom of the skyway.

We just hung out inside for most of the day. The rain did let up for a couple of seconds to allow for a quick walk.

Chico is busier than the last time we were here and growing all the time. A field next to the facility was pasture and now it is close to 300 condos. This is in the middle of the Sacramento Valley which is a huge flat area between two mountain ranges. It is generally warmer here and can be excessively hot in the summer. A pair of big fires over the last several years have led to an influx of refugees from surrounding communities. It still has the feel of a village though but with considerably increased traffic.
