Four

11/30- Natural Bridge campground, Lexington VA Mile- 69050     It was mighty frosty this morning when got up. A lot had to do with the fact the sun wasn’t up yet. After scraping the windshield we headed down Highway 81. We have traveled here before while bringing our daughter to college so it was returning to the scene of the crime.     It was another beautiful blue bird day but the wind picked up and pushed the RV all over the road. Of course this being the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend the road was packed. It was exciting watching the semi drivers driving their trucks like sports cars weaving in and out of traffic.      We traveled through 4 states today. While not hard to do in New England it can be a challenge elsewhere. We went through PA, MD, WV, and finally VA.     At one point Google told us we could save a few minutes by taking a different route and we said what the heck. About three minutes into that it told us we...

Traveling

11/29- Wilkes-Barre PA    We hung around my mom’s house doing a few chores for her before heading out. We motored down 91 until the Mass Pike. It has been many years since I have driven on this road and it has some very interesting scenery. I have not explored this part of state and I probably should.     It was a bright sunny day as we cruised down the Northway until about Kingston where we peeled off on some back roads. This area is really rich in history from the beginning of our country. We saw dozens of old limestone houses. Some large and others bordering on cute. And there were all kinds of stone walls snaking through the woods.  There were meticulously cared for walls and abandoned ones that just shot off into the woods.     We had gone through the Berkshires then the Catskills and finally the Poconos. Old fashion little cabins sprinkled the landscape. Most were run down and abandoned, their time in the spotlight gone. But there...

And awaaay we go

11/28- Turners Falls MA We headed out yesterday under some nice sunny skies. We were headed down to my mother’s for Thanksgiving. It was a nice trip with plenty of traffic even in Vermont. My mom put me to work right away cleaning up her yard.      Today my sister and her family came up from CT along with my brother. Saryn and Kalyn and Fay drove down from VT in a blizzard. Kudos to them! We had a great dinner prepared by John and we were all thankful for our lot in life. Everyone managed to get home safely even though it was still snowing quite hard in VT.      So here we are trying to figure out where to go next. It is supposed to be clear the next couple of days but cold. We have to decide whether to put water in the RV as it will be in the 20’s tomorrow. Time to get south !!! We’ll see what the weather is in the morning and try and decide.
Well folks, here we go again. We are traveling westward in our newly purchased 2014 Winnebago View Profile, which we named Allspice. We have had a few trial runs over the course of this past summer and are now ready to go into our winter avoidance scheme. We have been loading up the RV as we prepare to spend the next 5 or so months living aboard.      Its a little different preparing an RV compared to our boat. On the boat you had to carry just about everything you could need. The RV meanwhile is easier because you can drive to the store just about anytime you want. We don't have to carry anywhere near the amount of food because there will be plenty of stores and gas stations along the way.     We haven't decided on a route yet but it will most likely involve heading south as fast as we can. Of course there is a storm predicted for the weekend. Hopefully we'll be able to drive out of it. It will however be cold. Right now we are seeing temps here in V...
