12/20 - Paradise CA
We hung out and visited with Alayne’s sister and her husband. We took a walk through Paradise and you could still see damage from the fire 6 years ago. What was once a heavily forested community is now a barren and raw place. It is coming back though. There have been 2600 new homes built since the fire and new businesses are popping up every day. It’ll be a long time for it to get back to the way it was but these are a very determined people.
In the evening we went down to the old folks home for their annual Christmas dinner and to visit with A’s mom. There was quite the traffic jam of walkers and wheel chairs trying to get in. It was fun and a good meal and everyone was in the Christmas spirit.
We will be staying here through Christmas and then some. We talked about taking a side trip up to Oregon but the weather here is turning foul. There is a 90% chance of rain every day next week as an atmospheric river moves in. Well it won’t be warm but it won’t be cold either. You also don’t have to shovel rain.
Well, at 7:30 pm here in WeBo on the Winter Solstice, it is 12 degrees Fahrenheit with minus 25 windchill predicted for tomorrow, so don’t feel too bad about your rain & fog!
