Chico Ahhgain

 1/8- Chico CA

This is another in a string of beautiful days. It gets into the 40’s at dawn but tomorrow it might make 70. We are still parked in the same place doing the same things. Alayne had to go to her mom’s to deal with a minor cataclysm. I took a walk up the street to spend some more money.

There is a funny spot just down the road here that is called Philadelphia Square. It is a rambling office complex filled with medical and other professionals. The thing about it is the buildings are all recreations of historic buildings in Philadelphia. They even have some fake cobble stone streets. The buildings all have signs out front detailing there connection to the history of Philadelphia.

Another neat thing about Chico is the amount of food trucks. It’s rare to go a block without seeing a taco truck and they all have lines out front. They mostly seem to be Mexican as the Spanish influence is strong here.

There are parks all over the place and they are sort of connected. Bidwell park is a fine example. There are many sections of Bidwell park spread throughout the city. When walking in one all of sudden you realize that you are in another park. Perhaps the most famous or infamous section is Upper Bidwell which burned last year. Some yahoo decided to set his car on fire and push it over the cliff Hollywood style. This started a fire that burned up many acres and a few towns. The moron was caught because someone actually video taped the whole thing.

Speaking of fires we are nowhere near the fires that are currently raging in LA. We are a good 600 miles away. People around here though are a little twitchy when it comes to fires and with good reason. There are people that have lost two home to two separate fires. I hope the winds die off and they get them under control soon.
