Paradise

 1/20- Paradise CA

Saryn and Alayne went antiquing today while I stayed back. I thought this would be a good time to talk a bit about Paradise. We took a drive around the other day and it was interesting in that when pointing out places it was this one survived and that was a rebuild or that was burned. There are much fewer people here now and services have been slow to come back. What was once a lush forest of Ponderosa pines and Douglas firs is now an open area littered with stumps of fallen trees. Houses that you couldn’t see before due to the trees are now laid bare in the red dirt. People are still fighting back eight years after the fire.

I mention this as I see photos of the LA fires. It takes a long time to get something like this back to normal. I wish all those people affected by these fires the best in trying to get their lives in order.

By the way, happy MLK day.
